College Library

A college library is expected to support the objectives of the college. Thus the basic function of college library is to assist its parent body to carry out its programme. This means that it must adequately serve the needs and requirements of the faculties and students in reading, study and research.

The library came into existence in 1984, with the establishment of Lal Bahadur Shastri Senior College. Initially library was located in the small room with no space for various sections. Total collection was 6816 till 2003. Library was later shifted upstairs in big 1400 built up area. Library has good collection on diverse areas of knowledge such as Language and Literature, Social Sciences, Humanities, Commerce, Pure & Applied Science. Total collection of the library till year 2016 is 16674.

There is open access system for the faculty and students. The central library is open from 10.30 A.M. to 5.30 P.M. on all working days including vacations. During the examination period library open for 9.00 A.M. to 6.00 P.M. for rural area students.

LIBRARY RULES

  • Library will be open from 9.30am to 5.30 pm
  • Book circulation service will be from 10 am to 5 pm
  • Every student should carry his /her own identity card.
  • Every student will be issued two books on borrower’s card.
  • Books will not be issued without identity card and library card.
  • If books are not returned on due date Rs 0.50 will be recovered per day.
  • Reference books and Journals will not be issued on library card.
  • Reference books and journals will be gently to refer in reading only
  • If the books are found torn, molested then the price of the book will be referred.
  • News paper and magazines read in reading room only.
  • Student should observe silence in the library so that other student should not get disturb.
  • Mobile strictly prohibited.

Library Advisory Committee (LAC) functions

Library Committee frame the rules / regulations:

  • To formulate a development plan for library.
  • To prepare the collection development and selection policy for library
  • To assist the Librarian in formulating general rules and regulations which govern the functioning of the library
  • The LAC has the power of write off/ loss of books take action on it.
  • To provide general direction to the library
  • To look into day to day problems of the Library clientele, Library staff to the management
  • To maintain liaison between Central Library and various Academic
  • Departments for the purchase of books.
  • To supervise the allocation and utilization of funds for different departments for purchase of books and journals for the Central libraries.
  • To consider and put forward the views of students and Research Scholars regarding their problems and solutions.
  • To suggest the librarian on the distribution of funds made available for the purchase of books, journals and other academic requirements.
  • To contribute a wider vision in building the future shape of central Library services
